Baby What You Tryin' To Prove (Michael Holloway, Left Out Music/Nightfly Publishing, BMI)
Baby, you should maybe not try to wear your dress so tight
You’re causing a commotion with your sexy little ways tonight
Ever since you walked in every eye’s been on you
Checking out your body in those high heeled shoes
They’re all acting like they want to have their way with you
Baby, what you tryin’ to prove

What you trying to prove
What you trying to prove
What you trying to prove
I’ve been watching you for weeks now
I get nervous when you walk by
I don’t know what it is that keeps me holding back
I’ve never been shy
Every time you walk out with some other guy
It hurts me so bad I wanna break down and cry
I gotta tell you that they’re just no good for you
Baby, what you tryin’ to prove
Baby, what you tryin’ to prove
Baby, what you tryin’ to prove
Baby, what you tryin’ to prove

There ain’t no question that they got their sights on you
I ain’t suggesting but I’d show those guys a thing or two

In the evening when I come home
I just try to think of things to do
I don’t need no idle time cause I only end up thinking of you
I need to gather my nerve and tell you just how I feel
But I’m afraid that you might think that I just don’t fit the bill
I guess I know now
Why they call it the blues
Baby, what you tryin’ to prove
What you tryin’ to prove
What you tryin’ to prove
What you tryin’ to prove
You tryin’ to prove
Oooh, oooh, you tryin’ to prove
Oooh, oooh, you tryin’ to prove
Oooh, oooh, you tryin’ to prove
Oooh, oooh, you tryin’ to prove

Good Day For Having the Blues (Michael Holloway, Left Out Music/Nightfly Publishing, BMI)
Something happened to me
When I got home today
My baby said she don’t love me
Then she made me move away
Now I’m stuck out here with nothin’
Not a place to call my own
Seems like it gave her pleasure
Breaking up my happy home
It’s a sad, sad situation
But somebody had to lose
Yeah, it’s a good day for
Havin’ the blues

She said that we could make it
A long, long time ago
I thought that she could take it
But man, it just ain’t so

She’s smoking and she’s drinking
She’s staying out all night
I may have done her wrong
But that still don’t make it right
That woman loves to hurt me
I’m feeling so confused
It’s a good day
For havin’ the blues

(Bridge)
Tell me why does a woman
Have to have it all
As soon as she don’t get it
A good man takes a fall
I gave her all my money
What little bit I had
Every time I think about it
It makes me fightin’ mad

Solo

I guess it goes to show you
That there ain’t no perfect world
I gave up all I had
But still I lost that little girl

Now she’s smokin’ and she’s drinkin’
Stayin’ out all night
I may have done her wrong
But that still don’t make it right
Yeah, that woman loves to hurt me
I’m feeling so confused
It’s a good day
For havin’ the blues

It’s a good day
For havin’ the blues

No More Mustang Sally (Michael Holloway, Left Out Music/Nightfly Publishing, BMI)
Well, you’ve heard the tale of Mustang Sally
How she didn’t want to let me ride
She seemed so high falutin’
On that cocaine she’d been tootin’
Now her butt’s about four feet wide

(Chorus)
Don’t know no Mustang Sally
She don’t do a thing for me
The way she made me feel
I’m gonna buy a Coupe Deville
But Sally won’t be ridin’ for free

Yeah, I bought you that brand new Mustang
Had to struggle to try to make ends meet
Little did I know that the gratitude you’d show
Was to put this poor boy out in the street

(Chorus)

(Solo)

All you want to do is fool around, Sally
Lie, Sally, lie
All you want to do is fool around, Sally
Lie, Sally, lie
All you want to do is fool around, Sally
Lie, Sally, lie
All you want to do is fool around, Sally
Lie, Sally, lie
You know the way she made me feel
I’m gonna buy a Coupe Deville
But Sally won’t be ridin’ for free

Blues Hideaway (Michael Holloway, Left Out Music/Nightfly Publishing, BMI)
I could hardly wait till I got off work today
I’m gonna shine my Sunday shoes and watch the sun fade away
I’m goin’ down to a place where the nighttime meets the day
A smokin’ little joint they call the Blues Hideaway

There’s a lady named Mudbone always meets you at the door
Once you step inside seems like you’ve been there times before
You’d better get some of the gumbo cause it won’t be long to stay
They’re throwin’ down the jam at the Blues Hideaway

I’ve been to lots of places where no one knew my name
But once you step inside it seems like you’ve been here times before
It’s like being in the delta where the cotton’s ten feet tall
Like drivin’ Highway 61 and hearing Robert Johnson call

When I want some blues I done found myself a home
Where they got some smokin’ bands who know how to play that delta tone
I’m crazy ‘bout New Orleans and the Mardi Gras Parade
But I’m spending all my time down at the Blues Hideaway

(Repeat bridge)

Ridin' This Train (Michael Holloway, Left Out Music/Nightfly Publishing, BMI)
When a man has troubles
That's when he needs his friends
They spend their time and their money
To pick him back up again
Sometimes it's hard to believe
Just how much they can do
All in the name of friendship
And in the name of God too

(Chorus)
Yes I believe in love
It's a wonderful thing
It makes people stop and help you
In the pouring rain
Once it gets inside you
You'll never be the same
You don't need no ticket
When you're ridin' this train

I've suffered with the homeless
Looked in the eyes of the blind
Seen the looks on the faces of people
Who had to leave their pasts behind
I've been broken and down-hearted
That's when my friends all came through
They caught the train at the station
I'm going to ride on it too

(Chorus)

When you're ridin' this train
When you're ridin' this train

No Stranger to Danger (Michael Holloway/John Alford, Left Out Music/Nightfly Publishing, BMI)
Well, I ain’t the kind of man
Who runs away from a fight
And I’ve had my share of troubles it’s true
But you’d have to be an Einstein to figure out
Why people do the crazy things that they do

Well my troubles they all started back in ‘63
When I was chased around the school for a week
By a guy who must have been at least
Twice my size, cause he saw me kiss his girl on the cheek

I ain’t no stranger to danger
I’ll take a chance on love
Ain’t no insurance for this life I lead
Still I can’t get enough
I got a bad reputation
Don’t play no push and shove
I ain’t no stranger to danger, baby
I’ll take a chance on love

Solo

Well, I just can’t help it when I see that look
Although she is another man’s wife
I should know well enough to leave it alone
But I guess I’m just addicted for life

Chorus

I’ll take a chance on love
I’ll take a chance on love
I’ll take a chance on love....

Drive-In (Michael Holloway, Left Out Music/Nightfly Publishing, BMI)

Feast Or Famine (Michael Holloway, Left Out Music/Nightfly Publishing, BMI)
Sometimes when you’re lovin’ me
It’s more than I can stand
Other times it seems as though
You want some other man
It’s a constant struggle, girl
When you’re balancing the two
Cause it’s always feast or famine, baby
When it comes to lovin’ you

The mirror on the wall
Reveals the lines upon my face
Just another way of saying, baby
You put me in my place
Not even Mary Kay
Can hide the hurt that I’ve been through
Cause it’s always feast or famine, baby
When it comes to lovin’ you

(Bridge)
When it’s right it feels just like
What heaven’s supposed to be
But when it’s wrong I feel the heat
From this pain inside of me
It’s a sad, sad situation, girl
And we both know it’s true
Cause it’s always feast or famine, baby
When it comes to lovin’ you

Solo

They say that sometimes love
Can have a fatal sting
The attraction that I have for you
Should somehow mean something
I’d reconcile our differences
And try to see things through
But it’s always feast or famine, baby
When it comes to lovin’ you

When it comes to lovin’ you
When it comes to lovin’ you (it’s feast or famine, baby)
When it comes to lovin’ you

Blues Don't Fade Away (Michael Holloway, Left Out Music/Nightfly Publishing, BMI)
You can find you a woman stay with her one night
The next day when you wake up, man, she’s clean out of sight
You can offer advice to a good friend who’s down
But he’ll have to sort it out when you’re not around
You can wear your blue jeans till they’re old and gray
But there’s one thing I know, the blues don’t fade away

You can buy you a car with the smell brand new
Trade it in tomorrow cause your friend bought one too
Worry about things that make you lose your mind
Then you realize it’s been a waste of your time
You can worry about the future, forget about today
It all comes and it goes but the blues don’t fade away

Well, it’s easy to see where the blues got its start
From people leaving home with a broken heart
To be sent to a country just to work for the man
You got to get some satisfaction any way that you can

You can work with computers or drive a Mack truck
Hang around in Vegas till you run out of luck
Work on a farm and build a life with your hands
Or you can worry about your crops while you’re losing your land
You can learn to grow old while your grandchildren play
Yeah, your memory may be gone but the blues don’t fade away
I say the blues don’t fade away

Flood of '93 (Michael Holloway, Left Out Music/Nightfly Publishing, BMI)
It was a hot day in the Delta
The sun was beatin’ down
Come a sudden crack of thunder
Then the lightnin’ hit the ground
The sky turned black as onyx
As the rain began to pour
I was seven miles from nowhere
Plowin’ the lower forty-four

There was anger in the river
You could see it on the rise
The levees, they couldn’t hold it
And that’s when the people cried
Just like one big muddy ocean
Just as far as you could see
I never will forget the flood
Back in ‘93

(Chorus)
You don’t know what you’ve got
Until you see it washed away
If this flooding doesn’t stop real soon
There will be more hell to pay
Nothing we can do now
But get on our knees and pray
Cause in the flood of ‘93
Our dreams were washed away

Families have all moved on now
To find a better life
Some women they lost their husbands
And some husbands lost their wives
That rich farm land
That I grew up on
Is somewhere in St. Louie
It’s strained against the Gateway Arch
From the flood of ‘93

(Chorus)

In the flood of ‘93
Our dreams was washed away
Washed away
Washed away.....

Everything a Woman Should Be (Michael Holloway, Left Out Music/Nightfly Publishing, BMI)
I love you
You love me
We can’t help
What they can’t see
But it’s alright
They don’t know
What you do for me
Well, there ain’t nobody else
I just want you for myself
Cause you’re everything a woman should be

It hurts me
When we’re apart
You lay so heavy
On my heart
But it’s alright
Cause you’re always there for me
Well, there ain’t no doubt about it
Gonna make me scream and shout it
That you’re everything a woman should be

Put the candle in the window, baby
Don’t you let that flame burn out
There’s just somethin’ ‘bout you darlin’
I just can’t live without
I sho love you, baby

When that day
Comes around
I want to see your
Wedding gown
Cause it’s alright
Girl, I’ll be there by your side
And I’m always gonna try
Just to keep you satisfied
Cause you’re everything a woman should be
Everything a woman should be
Yeah, you’re everything a woman should be
I sho love you baby

Sure Could Play the Blues (Michael Holloway, Left Out Music/Nightfly Publishing, BMI)
There was a young man who came from Rising Star
And all he had to his name was an old beat-up guitar
He headed out to Nashville, gonna write country tunes
But when he laid down at night, man, all he heard was the blues

The record people said country music's the thang
But he was raised in the Delta and was used to that stang
Yeah, he’d been taught a good lesson from his maw and his paw
Don’t ever give up on a dream, it ain’t against the law

He finally cut a record back before CDs
And when he played the blues
He brought them all to their knees
The folks on Music Row were getting real upset
He had a Porter Waggoner suit and wore a pork pie hat

He finally made his mark, had everything on a roll
He was up for seven Grammies and walked away with the show
When they interviewed him later and they asked for his views
He said, "I hope that people say, ‘that man can sure play the blues.’"
He finally bought a house in Memphis, Tennessee
Right in the heart of what we call Beale Street
Now he entertains the tourists in his blue suede shoes
And you can hear the people shout
"That man can sure play the blues!"

www too much dot com (Michael Holloway, Left Out Music/Nightfly Publishing, BMI)
Well, I was watching television
Just the other night
When I noticed the commercials
Had me feeling uptight
They had anything you wanted
On a CD rom
There’s just www too much dot com

Well, you can buy a car or a color TV
Even fly to Colorado if you like to snow ski
But the only thing that matters is where the cash comes from
It’s just www too much dot com

They got people scared to death about the Y2K
They’re all packing up their families and movin’ away
It’s really startin’ to bug me that we’re all in this fix
It’s just another prime example of ole’ 666

Well, I’m really proud to say how the old folks got by
They didn’t worry ‘bout no computers, still they made it just fine
Now e don’t know where we’re headin’
Or where we’re all comin’ from
It’s just www too much dot com
www too much dot com
I say www too much dot com
I say www too much dot com
I say www too much dot com
Honey, pack up the kids, we gettin’ outta here
